***2024 Cria are here, pics to come! Rosemont is one of the premier gray Suri herdsires of his era. The fleece traits this male has maintained with age are hard to come by in any color, let alone gray. Rosemont is the total package -- good bone, sound conformation, with a fleece boasting density, luster, and fineness all maintained with age. Rosemont has also consistently passed on these traits to his offspring, of which aside from being all males, are all exquisite rising herdsires in their own right. At ten years of age, Rosemont is still maintaining a grade 2 fleece. At the 2023 PNAA IFA fleece show he was second in grade 2 gray, placing two points behind a juvenile fleece! Rosemont inherited the best traits from his dam and sire; dense coverage and big bone from his dam's side and extreme fineness from his sire, Rosie truly is special. Rosemont has Accoyo in his blood from NGG Cortez on his dam's side and is big boned with exceptional coverage in ropey locks. His beautiful head comes from Cortez on his dam's side and Peruvian Aureo on his sire's side. His dam's contribution should not be dismissed, as she possesses coverage rarely seen in a female, high luster and dense twisted locks. Rosemont is a direct descendant of Shasta Springs Bachelor out of one of Gail Campbell's top herdsires, Maranta's Peruvian Maximillan. Bachelor passed on a beautiful head to his offspring and improved luster, lock and fineness in all of this offspring. Bachelor produced gray from every female he was bred to, a feat that will be hard to replicate. We sent his 2022 fleece off to the Suri Network fleece show, where Rosie earned a third-place ribbon in the combined-gender, gray mature fleece class, with 11 entries. It was a very close competition between all seven fleeces we had entered in that class, but Rosie received very high marks for his luster, fineness, and handle, at almost nine years of age. Rosemont is a prime example of the phenotypical and fiber characteristics that define the standard of our breeding program.

2024 update -- 2023 EPD data is in and Mia is truly in a class of her own !!! Mia ranks in the top 1.97% for AFD and overall very high percentiles across AFD, SDAFD, SF, and %F>30. WOW. For a ten-year-old, LSG female these stats are hard to match. This was our first year submitting EPD samples and we are blown away by the stats we got back. Mia's data certainly align with what we already knew -- she's a keeper! 2023 update: We've always thought Mia's fleece was fine, but wow were we still shocked at how fine!! Mia is truly extraordinary!! Check out this girl's fiber stats... at ten years of age, she is maintaining extreme fineness, with less than 4% of fibers over 30 microns. Her 2022 cria, Gio, is poised to follow in her footsteps -- the two have nearly identical fiber stats (Gio at 8 months, Mia at ten years)! What Mia lacks is density -- her total fleece weight for 2023 was only 1.8 pounds, granted she was bred with a cria by side, but the superb traits Mia has maintained in the fleece she does have far make up for any lacking density. We sent her fleece off to fleece shows this past year, again looking for quantitative data and feedback -- Mia received next to no points for fleece weight but very high marks in all other areas. London's Milan "Mia" is making her Openherd debut with exciting news... Mia is a mama! Mia welcomed a curly locked little male earlier this month, pictures coming soon! Mia is another beautiful London daughter and is a full sister to Paris, Brookelyn, and Zuri. Mia has been a social butterfly from birth, a true sweet soul who is always eager to greet us. Mia takes after her sire, Shasta Springs Bachelor, in both her coloration and phenotypical traits. Her silver gray tuxedo markings are uniquely Mia, with many different spots speckled throughout her blanket and four white socks. She's inherited her dam's "show herself" personality, and is always pronging through the pastures, tail up, and tall and stretchy. Another trait Mia inherited from her sire is extreme fineness. Mia's half siblings and fellow Bachelor offspring, Rosemont and Ebblouissante are maintaining Grade 2 fleeces at nine and ten years of age, respectively. Mia's 2022 fleece was shown at the 2022 Suri Network fleece show, where she placed sixth out of eleven in the gray mature class, placing behind Ebblouissante, Rosemont, and sisters Paris and Brookelyn from our herd. Mia had a near perfect score in fineness and handle, and by our hand, her fleece is almost certainly finer than Rosemont and Ebblouissante. We are very curious where Mia falls quantitatively.

2024 update: Gio is the total package. A product of an elite genetic pairing, this boy is top of the line when it comes to rising junior herdsires. Phenotypically, Gio delivers across the board, he has inherited all the best traits from his dam and sire only lacking their color! The exclusivity of Gio's genetics is quite apparent, as proven through his fiber and genetic statistics. His lineage rank in the top percentiles for Suri alpacas and did we mention they're all gray!! Any farm looking to boost the quality of their gray genetics should have an eye out for this one!

This young male is truly special. Gio has been shining since birth, with a radiating degree of luster, still pronounced at 12 months of age. Gio is out of two of our favorite grays, both of which have maintained extreme fineness with age. We expect this little guy to do just the same. Gio is loaded with lustrous, penciled locks, and is very uniform throughout his fleece. Gio has a very balanced conformation, with complete fiber coverage from head to toes, and a wonderfully silky fine handle to his fleece.

With his parentage and genetics, Gio is a rising herdsire full of potential and a great option to be bred to gray. He will be ready for breeding soon, part interest only available.
